A Wedding Story: Patsi & Derek

Today I will be bringing you my first wedding blog post!  And I'm so excited!  Patsi and Derek had a beautiful out door ceremony on an absolutely perfect day!  I had not met them prior to their wedding, however, I immediately felt at ease and welcomed by them.  I met Derek first as we had both arrived early and so I took the opportunity to get some shots of him and his groomsmen, I'll start with some of my favorites of those:

We grabbed a few shots of the bride as she anxiously awaited for the ceremony to start:

Shortly after the bride arrived, the ceremony was started:

Husband and Wife!

Of course we had to have some fun with the bridal party after the ceremony!

And now for my absolute favorite part, portraits of the newly wed couple!  Patsi and Derek were amazing to work with, their love and affection was so natural which made my job easy!

A little ways into the reception I snuck out with Patsi and Derek to grab some sunset shots with the two of them, our timing was perfect, check out this beautiful lighting!

Patsi and Derek, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day!!  And thank you also to Mark from Z Video Productions who came out to help me document this wedding!

50 mm 1.4

So, like the last post, this post is dedicated to my 50 mm 1.4 which I am currently in love with!  At this point I have had time to practice with her and get to know her better!  Basically I will be sharing with you random pictures I have taken with her over the last few days.

For those looking to invest in camera's and lenses, look first at the differences between a full frame camera and camera's with cropped sensors.  I discovered this difference AFTER my lens purchase.  My Canon is a cropped sensor, and I would have at least preferred to be aware of this prior to purchasing the 50 mm 1.4.  However, since I don't have 2,000+ grand to drop on a full frame camera, Canon and I will continue chugging along and making the best of what we have!  I keep hearing that it's not the gear that makes a great picture, it's the photographer.  Here's to making that statement true in my photography!

Of course I have to start out with the ever adorable Coney!

Here I was attempting to product my first image with SUN FLARE!  I definitely count this as a success!  And also, this is our backyard!!

And the rest are just some random practice shots!

Introducing.....

Say hello to the newest member of the family!  My new 50 mm 1.4!!!  And yes, every sentence in this post is going to end in an exclamation point!  Because I am that excited!

All I can say so far is this little baby is amazing!  AH-MAH-ZING!  There is really nothing else to say!  I've only been able to snap a few shots with her so far, but I was in love with each and every one of them!  The bokeh she produces is awesome, and I'm not even shooting wide open yet!  Since the purchase of my camera I have only been shooting with my kit lenses, but I am so, so glad that I took the plunge with this lense!  There is such a HUGE difference!  I cannot wait to experiment with it more and learn all that she can do!  Thankfully I have some amazing friends who have agreed to model for me, so keep an eye out for those shoots in the next few weeks!  For now, here are some of the first shots I took with my 50 mm while out to lunch with the parentals!

LOVE.  LOVE.  LOVE.  LOVE!!!!
